Our Upcoming Giveaway: Plum Bistro

This Tuesday (7/21) we’re giving away vegan cookies from Plum Bistro with all orders of a whole pie, while supplies last.

For over forty years, Chef Makini Howell’s family has been creating some of the best vegan food in the Seattle area. Long before plant-based products were all over the grocery store, Chef Howell learned how to make vegan meals from scratch from her mother, who runs the vegan restaurant Quickie Too in Tacoma. In 2009, Chef Howell opened her own vegan restaurant on Capitol Hill; Plum Bistro. As the market for plant-based food grew, so did Plum Bistro. The Plum family now includes Plum Chopped (a staple for on-the-go vegan salads), Sugar Plum (delicious plant-based sweet treats), Plum Truck (a food truck that makes appearances at our favorite farmers markets) and a booming catering business.

Plum has defined the Seattle vegan food scene for over a decade now. Chef Howell says “a lot more people have started eating plant-based even without a vegan lifestyle. It’s popular, healthy and a lot easier.” That’s why Plum made the critical decision to pivot their business when the pandemic struck. Focusing on Plum Bistro and Chopped, affordable family meals have become the center of Plum’s business. They recently opened up their dining at 50% capacity, and are still offering takeout at Bistro and Chopped.

Keeping it in the family, Chef Howell’s sister runs the sweet side of the Plum family. While Sugar Plum remains closed for the foreseeable future, this Tuesday, 7/21 we’re giving away their delicious plant-based cookies.
